Friday June 3

Hello again Family and Friends,
I hope you are doing well on this beautiful Friday, well, at least it was on wonderful Whidbey Island.  It was nearly a heat wave today, with a high of 84!  84 isn't much in Florida or Texas, but up north, in the Pacific Northwest, it's a major heat wave.  And the forecast for tomorrow is a record matching or breaking 92...

We are heading out, homeward bound tomorrow, Saturday June 4th.  We have turned the corner and now every mile points "home" to Sarasota.
So,  today we had a down and dirty day and stayed local on Whidbey Island, particularly Coupeville and a bit of Anacortes on Fidalgo Island.

We started in Coupeville, "the heart of Whidbey Island",

Our first stop was at Lavender Wind shop,

A beautiful all American welcome,

The beautiful interior decor, where everything is Lavender!  Sweet!

An intricate waterfall augments the surrounding garden,

A nice small garden...

Lavender! Lavender! and a Beautiful Lady!

An absolutely beautiful peony... red and yellow!

wow!

a balance of color for all the lavender purple,

Purple and pretty,

Then, onward to the Coupeville pier,

A gorgeous, healthy cherry tree and "The Cherry" of my eyes!

A beauty and the pier,

Perfection!

The water was very calm in the morning!  Time for reflection!

Mount Baker, one of the five sisters, the others
are Mt Rainier, Mt Hood, Mt Shasta, and of course Mt St. Helens,

The wonderfully quiet waters of Puget Sound reflecting Mt Baker and a fishing boat,

Another pov of Camano Island and Mt Baker,

we then went to find the Lavender Wind lavender farm on the western side of the island,

Yeah, you read that right, Camp CASEY!!!
Who knew?

The Olympic Mountains are still snow covered,

The beautiful shore and meadows,

The Olympic mountains,

Another tribute to Serenity and Peace, Balance and Harmony,

At the Lavender Wind farm,

A gorgeous view, and the garden is nice too,

Guess which I think is more beautiful, hint, she's wearing orange!

Don't get distracted, there be lavender there,

\
Lavender,

rows and rows of Lavender, they are just beginning to bloom,

rows and rows,

Just a light blush of purple, in a month they will be all covered in beautiful deep purple,

Earth, grass, fields of lavender, blue skies, and my beautiful lady!!!

Flowers!

Then a stop at a lake,

A stop at the Seabolt Seafood restaurant, nice salmon and mussels!

Yep, having lunch is

FUN!

Then on to Anacortes, which was founded on lumber and fishing,

Welcome to Anacortes,

A gorgeous view of the sound,

A busy ferry between Anacortes and Guemes Island,

And finally, "home" to the Navy Lodge,

another successful day of exploring and learning!

The Navy Lodge is very nice, well cared for, and the service is top notch!  Highly recommend you save money and have great accommodations here!

We have had over two wonderful weeks of travel and learning.  We are getting "get-home-itis" and that's ok.  We are headed tomorrow for Spokane for a one night stay, then to Bozeman Montana for our visit to Yellowstone National Park.  This should be wonderful, and of course we will keep you posted.

OK, see you tomorrow.  God bless you and keep you always.
