Thursday May 26

Hello again, Day 8 of our wonderful Adventures!

If you have never been to San Diego, don't ever come here.  Your visit will ABSOLUTELY RUIN you for where ever you live now, with some very few possible exceptions.

Weather - perfect, perfect, perfect... I wanna be the weather person for San Diego, it'd be like "Perfect today, tomorrow, and for the next year."  Oh sure, 280 days of sunshine, temperature average for the year is a lousy 70, less than 10 inches of rain per year.  Just absolutely the most wonderful place for weather.

Culture?  The best zoo in the world, the largest municipal park in the USA, museums, music, and more, much more.

History?  How about 1528 to present?  And of course the Native Indians were here for thousands of years before that... Very, very colorful.

Work?  Some of the biggest names are here.  Raytheon, U. S. Navy, and of course the millions of tourists...

So, what's the down sides?  The cost of housing is, well, it's California so that means if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it!
And, there's that San Andreas thingee... but no sweating that right, like it'll never happen, right?  Hmmmm

We start the day with a visit to Breaker's Beach on North Island.

OK, so we're here for three days and that Mr. San Andreas better hold it for a little longer, cause on Saturday we head toward Northern Cali.  Sequoia, Yosemite, San Fran and wine country.

We got up kinda late.  Yesterday wore us down a bit.  We lazed until it was time to go to "Prime Rib Buffet" lunch at the Sea N Air golf club.  The steak was superb, and the rest was good too.  Lots and lots of food.
Finish up, load up, and off to the world famous San Diego Zoo.

It is one of the largest and most bountiful zoos in the world.  Nearly every major zoo type is there to greet you, including PANDAs!!  The Koalas were so adorable, the many bears, birds and beasts of all kinds.
We started with the Bus Tour to get a flavor of the whole park.  It's a good start so you can see the major areas.
We went from the bus to the Sky Tram, which takes you in a gondola from one side of the zoo to the other.  Adriana was not all that thrilled, but she's a real trooper and we made it across safely.

Then to the Panda exhibit via a long descending and then climbing walk past antelopes and bears.  The Panda's are beyond cute.  Just something about their appearance of innocence, peace, and go with the flow attitude.  I mean, how can you otherwise when you sleep 18 hours a day/night?  And, they were zonked out with just minor twitches.  Afternoon siestas are tough but the Pandas have it all down to an art.

From the Pandas to the giraffes.  Beautiful, elegant, and aloof.  We got to see a 1 day old baby, like, yes she was born yesterday!  So cute and to see the mother - baby bond was wonderful.

The koalas have a large exhibit.  But, did I mention that it was siesta time?  All were dozing and nothing seemed to disturb them.  Still, they were in the trees and also too cute for words.

We got to see many, many more animals,

including the most interesting one... the many, incredible varieties of HUMANS!  Languages from all over the world.  And the dress and actions are so interesting to watch.

We left with just enough time to get to Point Loma and the Cabrillo National Monument.  Perhaps the most outstanding thing in San Diego area.  To one side, east and south, you can see the whole city, valley, North Island, Coronado, all the way down to Imperial Beach and Tijuana, off east into the Sierra Nevada mountains, and then THE Mighty Pacific Ocean is just on the western side of the peninsula!  Awe inspiring, breath taking, especially if you get too near the edge!
(Pictures are taking time to process through the system, I'll add them tomorrow!  Hey, talk about cliff hangers!)

A long, busy day for us.  We topped it off with a nice dinner of swordfish tacos at the Blue Azul in Coronado.  Nice restaurant, nice meal.
Definitely a most memorable day.
Tomorrow?  A quick tour of Mission Valley, La Jolla, and surroundings, then Old Town and Little Italy, with some Embarcadero if there is time.
Saturday is wheels up time for Northern Cali.

Love to you all, hope everyone is fine, healthy, happy, and doing good things.
God bless you and keep you in His Love and Grace!
