Signal Hill and St John's History!

We had a wonderful experience today - we visited a most historic site where Marconi first received a radio signal from England in 1901!  The first electronic transatlantic transmission of information!

This wonderful spot is called Signal Hill for a multitude of reasons.  It overlooks the St John's harbor, the city of St John's and guards the mouth of the passage into the harbor at St John's.

It is a commanding hill that is over 430 feet above St John's and the surrounding areas.  It is historic for a multitude of reasons:

It gives a spectacular view of the ocean with whales swimming by to the passage into St John's harbor, the city itself, and the surrounding areas.

St John's is full of wonders, history, historic places, fine restaurants, even finer and nicer peoples, and above all, the incredible weather here in July.  I am told that July through October is the most wonderful and best time to be in St John's.  Winter can come early and well, you just need to be prepared for it!  I am thrilled by all the wonders of this beautiful and incredibly awesome place!

We then stopped by the visitors center for a snack and to refresh:

Then Larissa took us to the Middle Cove and the Outer Cove to see what wonders there are within just a few kilometers from her house!

The scenery and the overflow of nature's beauty are totally awe inspiring!  Such beauty and harmony of nature, such demonstrations of nature's powers and forces!
Well worth the visit for sure!!!
